Salon refit, closed for nine days

Sam had been quoted four weeks by another contractor. On a salon turning over what hers does, four weeks closed is the difference between a refit being worth doing and not.

We priced it two ways: a standard programme at four weeks, and a compressed one with two crews, weekend working and a hard reopening date. She took the compressed option, and we committed to the date in writing.

The unit is a listed building on the High Street, which meant the shopfront was untouchable and everything had to happen internally. New wash stations needed drainage running to the rear of the building, which was the one genuinely difficult part of the job and the reason we started there on day one.

The salon reopened on the Saturday we said it would, with a full EICR, emergency lighting records and the electrical certification in a folder on the desk.
