Bathroom renovations

Bathrooms are small rooms that punish shortcuts. Get the tanking, the falls or the extraction wrong and you find out two winters later. We build them back properly, and you see the stages that will be hidden before they are covered up.

Typically 2–3 weeksEvery trade organised for you

What goes under the tiles matters more than the tiles

The parts of a bathroom that fail are the parts you cannot see: the tanking behind the shower, the fall on a wet room floor, the extraction that was never actually vented outside. We photograph every stage before it is covered and those photos go in your handover pack. If you ever sell the house, or something needs looking at in ten years, you have a record of what is behind the wall.

Wet rooms and level-access showers

Level-access wet rooms are the fastest-growing part of our bathroom work, partly on style and partly because people are future-proofing homes they intend to stay in. They need the floor forming correctly, the falls set before tiling and the whole area tanked as a system. Done well they are the best room in the house. Done cheaply they leak into the ceiling below.

Small rooms, careful planning

Most bathrooms in older Skipton and Dales properties are tight, awkward shapes with a soil stack in the worst possible corner. Before we quote we measure properly and show you the layout options, including the ones that involve moving the stack. Often a few hundred pounds of pipework buys a room that feels twice the size.

Questions we get asked

How long does a bathroom take?

Two to three weeks for a full strip-out and rebuild. Tanking and tile adhesive need curing time and we do not rush those stages.

Can you move the toilet or the bath?

Almost always, yes. Moving a toilet means dealing with the soil connection, which is more involved than moving a basin, but it is routine work and we will tell you the cost implication up front.

Will I have a working toilet during the job?

If you have a second WC we work around it. If it is your only bathroom we tell you at quote stage exactly how many days it is out of action, and it is usually far fewer than people expect.
