Flooring & tiling
Floors show every fault underneath them. Most tiling that cracks and most flooring that lifts was laid on a substrate nobody prepared.
Whatever goes wrong, went wrong underneath
Cracked grout lines, drumming tiles, a laminate floor that has lifted at the edges — these are almost always substrate failures. Old floors move, and they need decoupling, levelling or overboarding before anything is laid. It adds a day and it is the difference between a floor that lasts fifteen years and one that fails in two.
Underfloor heating is worth it in a bathroom
Electric underfloor heating under a tiled bathroom floor is one of the cheapest upgrades in a renovation and the one clients thank us for most often. If the floor is coming up anyway, it costs very little more to put it in.
Questions we get asked
Can you lay tiles over existing tiles?
Sometimes, if the existing ones are sound and well bonded and the extra height works at the doorway. More often it is better to take them up. We will tell you which applies once we have looked.
Do you supply the tiles and flooring?
Either way. We can supply at trade rates or fit what you have chosen and bought yourself.
